He knew his own Balthazar and while he acknowledges they are different, maybe even very different in some ways, there were behavior and emotion cues that were definitely the same. Lucifer knew well enough when Balthazar needed to talk or have a topic pulled out of him reluctantly. He could see that all too well in this one.
